Art on the Lake is an art festival that is held at Copper Creek Lake Park along the Gay Lea Wilson Trail in Pleasant Hill, IA. The festival is a family friendly event that is free to attend and features music, food, kids’ crafts, and over 50 artists. To provide local awareness to the National Arts in Education Week, the second annual Art on the Lake Festival will be held on September 16th, 2017.
Live Entertainment –The festival will feature live entertainment throughout the day with help from the Central Iowa Blues Society. Performances include Rob Lumbard 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Soul Searchers 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., and Heath Alan band from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Lil’ Artist Alley –Throughout the day, kids can enjoy hands on art projects, activities, and delicious treats.
Demonstrations – Be sure to stop and check out the demonstrations. These include a hooked rug demonstration by Suzanne Strangner-Cantrell, Central Iowa Rug Artist and spray paint landscapes by 13 year old Artist Noah Bowers.
Community Project - New this year is a community project. The festival will have Chalk Artist Kathleen Roling creating a piece during the festival. The community is invited to join her and draw along the trail, creating a temporary piece of art.
